Louie was one of my husband oldest friends like so many others.  I was trying to see if Louie was still by the park.   Joe died about 3 weeks January 17, 2021 after Louie from COVID-19 long haul syndrome.  I hope  Louie is at peace I know he had issues but he was a good person.     All of the Tag siblings would come to my house after playing softball at the park for dinner and cards.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

As you know, Lou and I were childhood friends. Later in life we played softball together for Jim's Bar - just blocks from where we grew up. Mark & Travis, I remember the first time your dad brought his new love, Katy, to one of our games to meet the team. It wasn't long before the Tagliaferro team had a couple of new members.

I can tell you that Lou was a good friend, with a kind heart under that gruff exterior. He was also protective of his loved ones. When Gene was a teenager he was hit by a car and Lou had to be restrained from going after the driver. He was so angry because he hurt his kid brother. With the cops holding him back and your grandmother yelling at him, he wisely backed down.

As far back as I can remember the "Tags" were our neighborhood friends. Sorry Joyce, but I can't remember a time when you and Ron were NOT married. I have nothing but fond memories of everyone in your family.

I pray that you find comfort in your memories of better times.

I lived near Louie when we were boys attending St. Elizabeth's school. He was always 'the nice guy'. He never did anything rude or uncouth, so everyone liked to have him around.  I am sorry for your loss.  We moved away in 1966 so I never got to spend enough time with Louie.   I wish we had more 'guys' like him.

This is the first time that I've been on a group page, so sad to have to read this about Lou. We go back to the '60's and '70's. With Lou, it was football, more football and then more football. God how he loved the game. Use to have pick up games in Patterson Park on Saturdays or Sundays. He was a hell of a player, great arm, make great catches and knock your jaws loose with his blocking. He always had a smile and a laugh, great guy, haven't heard about him in years, but, these are my memories of him.  I'm sure, if its possible, Lou is in a pick up game already.

We are so sorry for the loss of our dear friend, Louie.  We've known Louie for more than 60 years.  He was a friend, classmate and neighbor.   We really enjoyed each other's company while living on Ellwood Avenue for many, many years when our kids were young.  We would sit outside in the evening and talk about our day.  Louie would always ask me to make him an egg sandwich.  The Patties, the Woodwards, the Romanowskis, the Tagliaferro's and the Catalfamos...we really had so much fun back in the day.  Louie will be missed by his many friends.  Rest in peace, Lou!

His favorite saying," You're a scholar and  gentleman".  You loved your mashed potatoes and homemade chocolate chip cookies and I was happy to make them for you. Thank you for listen and supporting me when no one else would. As you would always say, "You're a scholar and a gentleman". I will always love you! Rest in peace my dear friend.

Some of the best friends a man could have. I'm so sorry to hear this news. God bless you, Louie.

So sorry to hear Lou passed. He was a few years older then me. I had a Duke football that he and Mike Douglas would borrow. Man could Lou throw a football.
