Dear Laura, Sarah, Adam, Mona, Samina and Rebecca,
I am so sorry for your loss, and to hear how difficult it has been these last number of weeks for Mazher and all of you.  It was not a surprise, though, to hear of the amazing strength, resilience and consideration for all that Mazher displayed during this painful time.
Over the forty years that I had the privilege of knowing Mazher, these character traits never failed to be present. When I last saw Mazher, even though his body was weak and failing, he still showed that unique appreciation for all the sweetness that life has to offer.  You could see this in his wide, bright smile and the sparkle in his eyes as we talked about the various experiences we shared many years ago. Now we are left to keep his memory alive by following his example in cherishing every moment, and especially the love of family and friends.

There are some rare people whose light shines so brightly, it warms everyone around them. My beloved Mazher Uncle was one of them. He gave my sister and me some of our favorite childhood memories, that we will always cherish, and a model of true friendship, which he so generously gave to our mom and dad for nearly 50 years. Words can't really express our heartbreak, love, or gratitude. Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful photographs, which filled me with joy. Laura, Mona, Samina, Becky, Adam, and Sarah  you're in our hearts and prayers. Brad and I send our love and strongest wishes for peace.

My dearest Mammopasha,
You were and always will be a second father to me.  As far as I can remember, you were a constant presence in all of my life moments.  From childhood, graduating college, getting married, having children of my own, and dealing with life's stumbling blocks.

You brought me to tears when you called me your son when I visited you two months ago.  I can only hope and pray that I honor that designation as we now continue on separate paths.
  
Before you left us, you used to call me and ask if I had called you.  I used to answer no I hadn't and we would speak for a few moments.  I now realize it was probably your way and Allah swt of easing the difficulty now.  You always conducted yourself with grace and gravitas.

You taught me to always strive to not just settle for the status quo but to exceed and set the standard as well as set the bar high.

May Allah swt grant you a high place in heaven

It was a traumatic shock for us to know that Mazher, our dear friend for 50 years, will no longer be with us physically. He will always be in our thoughts and prayers. As an ancient Greek philosopher said, " Whom gods love die young." Mazher, you'll never die for us. Your smile will always remind us what a beautiful person and friend you were for my family.

Laura, we were so sorry to hear of Mazher's passing. We'll be out of town at the time of the service, but thinking of you and your family and praying that wonderful memories bring you comfort.
