Maria died peacefully at home on Friday, December 22, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late William Eckenbarger; devoted mother of Lisa Benton and Gerald Benton, Jr and his wife Karen; dear step-mother of Colleen Irvine, Susan Yost, Neal Eckenbarger and Denise Vieser; loving sister of Phyllis "Pinky" Schaffer and the late Jerry Ditzel, Joe Ditzel, Peggy Hite and Dolores Baker; ; cherished grandmother of Ashleigh Critzos and her husband Nick, Jordan Kunkel, Madison Benton, Olivia Dockery and her husband Brandon and Brooke Benton; dear step-grandmother to 15, step great grandmother to 13 and step great great grandmother to 3. Also survived by her beloved dogs Ozzy and Milo.
