

Nancy W. Schneider (nee Walker) of Bel Air, MD, former resident of Heritage Hunt Golf and Country Club in Gainesville, VA, passed away on April 16th, 2026, at the age of 90. Beloved wife of Richard E. (Dick) Schneider; Devoted mother of Cindy Jackman (Craig), Laurie Johnson (Jeff), and Richard H. (Rick) Schneider; Dear sister of Allan Walker (Betsy); Loving grandmother of Ryan Jackman (Lena), Heather Jackman, Sarah Rothenberger (Chris), and Andrew Johnson; Cherished great grandmother (GiGi) of Amara Jackman and Maly Jackman; Also survived by extended family and friends.
Nancy was born and raised in Rochester, NY. She attended Allendale Columbia School and graduated from Smith College with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a minor in Mathematics.
Following graduation, she was employed in the Statistical Department at Eastman Kodak Company. It was there that she met her lifelong partner, Dick. Soon after, they were married in a blizzard in 1959 and were happily married for 67 years.
The young couple started out living in the Rochester area and over the years their family grew with three children. Nancy was a wonderful and devoted mother who loved her family very much and created a warm and loving environment for them all.
Their youngest child, Rick was born with developmental disabilities and autism and together they dedicated their lives to his care and support.
Nancy was a lifelong volunteer. She took great pride in her service as the volunteer manager of the Fair Oaks Hospital (Fairfax, VA) gift shop, devoted countless hours over 35 years and received accolades for being the longest serving volunteer in the hospital’s history.
Nancy loved to travel and looked forward to vacations with the family in Cape Cod and the Delaware shore. She and Dick became lovers of river cruising in Europe and the United States and went on multiple trips with friends that were made while cruising. Nancy and her family also enjoyed traveling out west to visit a number of the national parks.
Nancy and her family lived in many places during her lifetime. Initially, the family lived in the Rochester, NY suburbs for over 20 years and then ventured to Woodland Hills, CA, followed by over 40 years in Northern VA, where she especially enjoyed her friends and home overlooking the 8th tee of the golf course at Heritage Hunt Golf and Country Club. In the last three years, Nancy, Dick and Rick moved to Bel Air, MD to be closer to family and enjoyed many beautiful gatherings together.
She was renowned for her wonderful selection of just the right gift for each family member and exceptionally wrapped packages that were too pretty to open.
Her delicious lemon squares recipe has been passed down to multiple generations.
She loved being a grandmother and was exceedingly proud to become a great grandmother (GiGi).
Nancy lived a long and fulfilling life always centered in love and dedication to her family.
She will be greatly missed and she will remain in our family’s hearts forever.
A visitation will take place at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc., located at 610 W. MacPhail Road, Bel Air, MD 21014 on Friday, April 24th, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Funeral Service to follow at 12p.m.
Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s name to Special Olympics Maryland, Manassas Ballet Theater, Manassas, VA, or Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, Fairfax, VA.
