Walter Everett Dashiell

On Dec. 9, 2021, Walter Everett Dashiell of Bel Air, MD, passed peacefully at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center at the age of 87. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia E. Dashiell (nee King); devoted father of Mike Dashiell, Stephen Dashiell, Rick Dashiell, and Suzanne Elder; dear brother of Maurice Dashiell and the late Shirley Watson. He was survived by nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

After graduating from Patterson Park High School, Mr. Dashiell served in the Army with the 101st Airborne. Upon discharge, he attended Towson State College where he met his future wife. He was wrestling stand out in college and was a Mid-Atlantic States Champion. Mr. Dashiell taught mathematics at Eastern Vocational Technical High School and several other Baltimore County schools, and later part-time at Harford Community College. His students loved “Doc’s” humor and teaching methods. He also coached several wrestling teams while a teacher. He also was an avid fisherman and held a State record for seven years.

Relatives and friends may gather at Schimunek Funeral Home at 610 MacPhail Road, Bel Air, MD 21014, on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be on Thursday, Dec. 16, at 11 a.m. Mr. Dashiell will be interred at Bel Air Memorial Gardens at a later date.
