

William “Billy” D. Gallant, Jr. went to his eternal heavenly home on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at the age of 51. Billy was the son of Mary Travassos Gallant of Lynchburg, VA and the late William D. Gallant, Sr.
Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, Billy moved to Huntington, NY as a young boy with his family and spent most of his early life on Long Island. He graduated from John H. Glenn High School in Elwood, New York in 1985, where he was an all-county football player. Billy excelled at football, lacrosse and wrestling.
Following in the footsteps of his late father, Billy served our nation in the US Army and was honorably discharged. After leaving the Army and obtaining his Associates Degree from Nassau Community College, he became a certified auto mechanic that included numerous certifications from National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). Billy moved to Baltimore, MD in 1990 and used his knowledge of automobiles to pursue a career as an auto adjuster and manager for several large insurers including GEICO, Travelers and Nationwide.
He recently accepted a job continuing his career in the insurance field near St. Petersburg, FL and was to start January 2, 2018.
He is survived by his Mother, Mary Gallant of Lynchburg, VA, his twin sister, Jeanmarie G. Harris and husband James F. Harris of Lynchburg, VA, and brothers Matthew T. Gallant of Bel Air, MD.
and Francis C. Gallant of Baltimore MD.
He will be missed by his nieces, Dempsey Gallant, Julian and Daniel Harris, and his nephews, Easton Gallant and Freddie Harris.
At the time of his passing Billy was living with his beloved girlfriend Sarah Landon, and her son Shepherd in Lovingston, VA.
He is also survived by his loving Aunt Dottie Mahoney and her husband Dave, of Woburn, MA, and his Aunt Margie Cerullo and husband Arthur, of Tewksbury, MA. Cousins include Irene Mahoney-Paige (George) of Chandler, AZ, David (Kelli) Mahoney of Dorchester, MA, Artie & Mark Cerullo of Tewksbury, MA and Brad (Christine) Cerullo of Dracut, MA.
Billy was blessed with an extraordinary friendship that expanded over 40 years with James S. Guido, Jr. of Waxhaw, NC and Stephen J. Donohue, Jr. of Nashua, NH. Stephen and Jimmy were true brothers to Billy and supported him in all that he did. We are forever grateful for them.
He will be remembered by his family and friends for his amazing kindness, generous ways, incredible smile, and exuberant personality. Billy was a volunteer with the Humane Society, and a lover of all kinds of animals.
Funeral Service service will be held at 7:30 PM on Friday, December 8, 2017at Schimunek Funeral Home 610 W Macphail Road BelAir, MD 21014. The family will greet visitors at the service from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm.
