Billie (Bill) Ray Murray was the second of four sons born to Harold & Helen Murray on October 24, 1941. He died Monday, April 13, 2026 at the age of 84 in bed at home. He was preceded in death by his parents, oldest brother Eddie (Ed), and youngest brother Tommie (Tom). Bill is survived by his wife Christine of 33 years, his brother Jackie (Jack), three children of his own: Teresa, Terry, Tamra, and four children of marriage: John, Tonyia, Dustin, and Tyler. Bill has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill retired from the United States Air Force in 1984 and continued working earning a second retirement from the United States Army Corps of Engineers. He is a Vietnam veteran. In his career he was a welder, repaired watches, aircraft mechanic, electronics mechanic and restored to use just about anything brought to him. Bill lived a godly life, though he would say, not to the level of his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. He served in his local church at every duty location, into retirement and until his health declined. Bill’s service was not for the praise of others, serving as janitor, musician (guitar), teacher of children and adults, bookkeeping/accounting, and serving others as deacon. Bill loved the outdoors, riding his motorcycle, camping, boating, hiking, shooting, and all the activities that a father does with his children. Bill was witty, performing pranks on others much like his father Harold. In Bills collection of humor was a poem that his father had written on the Murray business letterhead that reads “I have gone to look for my self, If I should show up before I return, hold me till I get back”
