Grandma,
Woke up early and you are on my mind with Jess.   He is hurting so much.  This breaks my heart.   His love for you will never die.

Lois was a blessing in my brothers life. Although I didn’t spend much time with her she was always a sweet kind role model for me. May she Rest In Peace and I am grateful for all the joy she brought Jess throughout the years.  Love ya Lois and you will be missed.  

Mom when I made my calendar out this year  I looked at 97 and thought wow it doesn't seem possible . The years fly by. All the cards I would send and you would say  "Where's my other ones."
 I love you so much Mom and miss you like all get out.

Lois liked to write about different things as LOLO  or Guardian Angel.  She wrote this one concerning Jada 

I can't believe all the wonderful things Grandma loved.   The love the picture of little J and all the animals she had in the crib.   Love you!!

When I was still in the Navy, Lois was auditing  a pay record that was part  of my unit.  While standing by her desk, she memtioned to the other auditor she had a craving for kisses.  The next day I gave her these kisses.



Later in time Lois informed me that she was referring to real kisses from me.

I really enjoyed celebrating Jess’ birthday and getting to hear so many stories about his and Grandma’s life together. I learn something new everyday and I’m grateful that she is still so present in our lives. 

Got to have birthday dinner with Jess for his big day.  We had such a good time.   Grandma, lots of stories of the two of you.  I miss you so much.   Love nikki

Lois always liked Dalmatians.  Being the devoted husband,  I fulfilled her wish.

Lois always said that I was her Teddy Bear.  

Today is my birthday.  I'm celebrating by displaying pictures of Lois
showing how beautiful she was.

DURING THE MOVIE  HE HAD KISSED HER AND HIS LIFE WAS CHANGED FOREVER.  WE WERE IN LOVE FROM THAT MOMENT.

WHEN I TOOK THAT JOB AT GREAT LAKES NAVY FINANCE CENTER IN 1967.  I NEVER KNEW THAT I WOULD MEET THE LOVE OF MY LIFE AT 43 YEARS OLD (4 AND 3 ARE 7) LUCKY SEVEN
A HAND FULL OF HERSHEY KISSES HELD BY A WHITE NAVY SAILORS CAP WAS THE START.  LITTLE NOTES WRITTEN TO ME ON SMALL TAGS USED IN WORK ON THE PAY RECORDS.
THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORY THAT IS ATTEST TO THE MAY-DECEMBER THEME.  I BELIEVE IT WAS THE POWER OF GOD'S INTERVENTION THAT BROUGHT US TOGETHER.

Lois was very patriotic.  With her sewing talent she created this tablecloth in 2013.

I HAD TOLD LOIS ABOUT MY MOM WEARING BANDANAS FOR HEAD COVERING.  WITH HER TALENT SHE SEWED THESE QUILTS, WHICH WE  GAVE TO MY MOM AND  DAD FOR THEIR ANNIVERSARY IN 1998.

Lois loved to sew.  In 1998 Lois sewed these outfits for my mom. Lois was a very beautiful and talented person.

When Lois joined ABOR DAY FOUNFATION,  she received some free trees poplar to this area.  We planted the trees.  This is Lois by one of the trees in 1993.   She really loved trees.

I am so sorry to hear about Aunt Sis.  My memory is that she was always smiling and had a good word to say- it has been years since I have seen her, but I have thought of her often.  My condolences to my cousins and Jess.  Love-Barb Brogan Patterson

In 1990 Lois and I traveled to Seattle Washington to visit her daughter Karen. Upon returning home we discovered SUMMIT BROGAN HILL. Lois was so happy being this was her maiden name.

No distance traveled, nor days unraveled, can set my heart to another; always true t'will fly to you, my dearest, my darling, Mother.

But time nor tide nor waters wide can ween my heart to another, for ever true  t'will fly to you, my sweet, my darling, Mother.

I love you Grandma. One of my most fond memories is sharing some stories of your past. I asked how you and Jess met. The story brought the most beautiful smile to your face. I am so hopeful that I will, one day, marry a man that is as kind, loving, and giving as Jess has been to you. You have been a true inspiration. 

I met Lois when I worked at the Navy Regional Finance Center, Great Lakes, IL. I was in my 20’s and we became great friends.  She was a beautiful lady inside and out.  She had a great sense of humor and was fun to be around.  She was there for me and gave me advice and guidance.  I never forgot her and called her just last year.  I can see by all the pictures that her family loved her and who wouldn’t love this kind lady.

Grandma has been known to everyone as our guardian angel.    She will be doing this now by God's side.   Grandma saved my life and raised my daughter.   I will always grateful for what she has done.  Love you always and forever.


The wonderful life of Lois Irene Zupan-Hall, as recalled  by her husband Jess, when he would be listening.  Lois was born in Alburnett Iowa  July 17 1923.   Her dad was John Brogan and her Mom was Dora Mae  Stahle Brogan.  She was the youngest of seven  children and the only girl.  Her brothers were Carl, Clifford,  Laurence, Everett, Otis and Herbert  While growing up in iowa her brothers made sure that she was the youngest through  practical jokes and others things brothers do to their siblings.  Due to her fear of falling and getting hurt Lois never learned to ride a bicycle.  She enjoyed riding our bicycle built for two when peddling from the back seat.  Her brothers caused her fear of water so she never learned to swim. Lois attented a one room school house in Alburnett thru 8th grade.Than she went to  Alburnett high school graudated in 1942  total class of 22.  Upon graduating she decided to go to Corpus Christy, Texas.  Here she met Marie( who later became Mrs Rodgers)  and they became best friends.  During her time in Texas she met and married James Zupan.  Lived in Waukegan, Il. They had five children Philip(Phil), Michael(Mike) , Karen, Stephen( Steve)and Susan(Susie).   After Susan was born Lois worked different jobs. Her favorite job was working at Sears for Mrs Swanson in the accounting section.   In 1967 Lois went to work for the Navy Regional Finance Center Great Lakes Illinois.  She then went to the Marine Corps Finance Center Kansas City Missouri, retiring in 1992, as a supervisor in settlements division.   While at Great Lakes she met her current husband Jess. Together they traveled to many different family gatherings thoroughout the great USA. She was a loving and caring person throughout her life.  She was a great influence on many people and really enjoyed helping to take  care of Jada Tucker.   She enjoyed her life to the fullest and will be greatly missed.  Good bye to the our wild irish rose.
