Born February 20, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Robert Vogel Baker and Irma Verneil (Hickman) Baker. Sharon earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri in 19__. Both her father and she are part of the large Baker family who is proud Mizzou graduates.
She worked at Children’s Mercy for over 20 years as a Nutritionist and she loved teaching classes. She was the kind of friend others would seek when they had a problem because she was so calming. Her friends would describe her as a “sweet lady”, “always pleasant”, and “the best sister I could ever want”.
She believed in the power of education, the importance of nutrition, and was an avid reader. Her home was full of books, plants, and the occasional puzzle. She took grandparenting very seriously and helped her grandchildren homeschool during Covid. She loved baking with her grandchildren, especially cookies. She would go out of her way to help friends and neighbors.
She met her husband, Bob, in 1999 and they were married in 2000. Over the past 21 years, they forged a marriage of love, compassion, and faith.
Sharon’s words of wisdom to her family shortly before passing were “Live Life! Enjoy yourself! Do what you are supposed to do. Be good to others. Love God like he loves you.” As was her typical nature, she was decisive until her peaceful end.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Bob, brother Brent Baker and family, and loving children: Lisa Kobularcik (Roger Moser), her children Rachel Burton (Zach) and their children Addison and Conrad, Grahm Burton, Elizabeth Burton, Anna Rose Kobularcik; Alan Schaefer (Brandy) and their children Hayden and Makayla; Mike Schaefer (Kelly) and their daughter Alison; Ray Davis and his children Tylor Whitham (Jessica) and Katie Davis; Phillip Davis (Stephanie) and their children Tyler Reynolds (Brooke), Lyndsay Reynolds and her son Leland, Brandon Reynolds, and Cooper Davis; Joe Davis (Devyn) and their children Elijah, Ruth, and Hannah. If you’re keeping count, that’s 6 children, 16 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
