Tony was born on August 31, 1944 in Monroe, LA to the late Anthony L. Suschil, Jr. and Audrey Suschil (nee Uelman). Following his father’s service to our country in WWII, Tony’s family was fortunate to have the opportunity to move to Greendale, Wisconsin, where he graduated from high school in 1962. He later graduated from the University of Wisconsin.
Tony is survived by his loving and cherished wife of 56 years Kathryn Suschil; three daughters Jennifer (Eric) Poorman, Elizabeth George and Jo Ann Suschil; four grandchildren Katie, Tom (Missy) and Amy Poorman and Bella George; one great grandchild Audrey Poorman; two sisters Patricia Lombardo and Barbara Correll, and sister-in-law Dianne Suschil.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Suschil.
Tony’s professional career began as the executive editor of Modern
Casting magazine, followed by over 20 years at Foseco, Inc. in various capacities including Marketing manager of steel castings, and later aluminum castings. After retirement in 2002 he thoroughly enjoyed being a substitute teacher in local schools; especially Hudson High School, where students enjoyed his broad array of knowledge in all subjects.
Tony especially enjoyed spelling, having competed in the National Senior Spelling Bee in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He also loved singing in the Hudson Community Chorus, Canton Men’s Choir, and HPC church choir. He had many other interests, especially national politics.
Tony’s entire family is grateful to the Lord for the 14+ “bonus years” Tony had after suffering a massive stroke in 2010. He loved life, never complained about his circumstances, and treasured his time here on earth. He will be terribly missed.
A memorial service is being planned for April 5 at Hudson Presbyterian Church.
