Bernice L. Osterhoudt

Bernice Lacey “Nonnie” Osterhoudt, aged 92, died peacefully on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at her home in Beverly Hills, Florida, after a long illness. She was surrounded by family members. Bernice was born in Shelton, Connecticut on Wednesday, December 3, 1924, the daughter of Clara (Ritchie) and Robert H. Corbett. In 1961, Bernice married the love of her life, Connecticut State Trooper, Robert L. Osterhoudt. They resided in Gaylordsville and Bethlehem, CT. Mrs. Osterhoudt was a veteran of the U.S. Postal Service serving over 20 years in the Bethlehem, CT Office. The Osterhoudt's retired to Homosassa, Florida in 1987. In addition to raising four children, Mrs. Osterhoudt was an avid gardener. She took great pride in her flowers and vegetables exhibiting exceptional patience, perseverance and a love for living things to grow a garden and beautiful flowers Mrs. Osterhoudt is preceded into death by her husband, Robert and daughter Robin Gelbogis. Nonnie is survived by her daughters, Candace Delancy (JD, MD), Joan Johnson (Richard, TN) and son, John Bortniak (Susan, MD); granddaughters, Mary Gelbogis (James, FL), Sondra Ouellette (Butch, CT), Lisa Liptak (Richard, CT), Victoria Bortniak (MD), Sherri Johnson (FL); grandsons, David Gelbogis (Tina, FL), Andrew Bortniak (MD) and Richard Johnson (Jennifer, FL); great granddaughters, Audrey Gelbogis (FL) and Sarah Ouellette (CT) and great grandsons, Joseph Ouellette (CT), Zackary Liptak (CT) and David Gelbogis (FL). Bernice's inurnment will be on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Fero Memorial Gardens of Beverly Hills. Following the graveside service, a "Celebration of Life" will be held at the Quality Inn, 350 E. Norvell Bryant Hwy, Hernando, FL 34442 starting at 12:00 Noon. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Hospice of Citrus County and Nature Coast, PO Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464.
