She was preceded in death by her parents, Zachary and Marie Rancourt, siblings Herbert and Julie Rancourt, sister-in-law June Rancourt, and her daughter-in-law Julie Dowling.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Douglas Dowling, her brother Ronald Rancourt (Blanca), sons Kurt, Scott (Lory), and Brian (Annette), grandchildren Thomas (Chelsea), Brittany Pullen (Matthew), Dustin (Kaylie), Kayla, Bradley (Dana), Kaydee, Brandi Bartsch (Brandon), and Logan, nine great-grandchildren (with two more on the way), along with many nieces and nephews.
Carol was born on June 3, 1936 in Freeport, Long Island NY and graduated from Amityville High School in 1954. She applied her gifting with numbers and organization to employment in the accounting field at Doubleday Books and The Grumman Corporation. 1959 was the year she married the love of her life, Douglas. The couple moved to Miami in 1960 where Carol worked at Bethany Lutheran Preschool and raised their three sons.
Carol and Doug relocated to Inverness, Florida in 1988. Her experience and affinity for children landed her employment at Pleasant Grove Elementary’s before and after school program for many years. Post retirement, she found herself adopted by a colony of cats, a dog, and of all things, a family of vultures! Most recently, Carol accepted the responsibility of managing Doug’s Transportation and enjoyed faithfully attending Redemption Point Church.
Carol lived selflessly for her husband, family, and animals. She adored her grandchildren and was their greatest cheerleader. Although she lived with chronic pain, she never complained. This saint never allowed anything to interfere with serving her loved ones or enjoying quality time with her family.
