Dolores spent much of her life in Miami, Florida, where she built lasting friendships and strong community ties. Later in life, she moved to Homosassa to be closer to her family, cherishing the time she was able to spend with them.
She dedicated her career to serving others, working in a women’s prison ward where she offered guidance, compassion, and encouragement to countless women. Dolores believed deeply in second chances and in the dignity of every individual. Her kindness left a lasting impact on many lives.
A woman of many talents, Dolores had a true green thumb; she could grow a flower anywhere. She enjoyed arts and crafts, and above all, her greatest passion was her family. With her warm and loving personality, she made everyone feel at home and truly cared for.
Dolores was the beloved wife of the late Theodore Bohichik and a devoted mother to Richard Harper Jr., Barbara Clark (the late Samuel Clark Sr.), Carolyn Abele, and Valerie Illes (Patrick J. Illes). She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn and Valerie; her sister, Jacqueline Kirchhoff (Louis Kirchhoff); nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marie Gilbert; her sister, Lorraine Hair; and her children, Richard and Barbara.
A Celebration of Life for Dolores will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the Magnolia Room at Fero Funeral Home, followed by a committal service at 1:00 PM at Bushnell National Cemetery.
In honor of Dolores’s love of flowers, floral tributes are warmly welcomed.
Dolores will be remembered for her strength, her generosity of spirit, and her warm and loving personality that made every person feel like family.
