

McCRAY, Frank, Jr. 69 of Ocala, Fl. was called home to be with the Lord on February 16, 2013 while under the care of his loving wife. A native of Bronx, N.Y. Frank was born on December 9, 1943 to Frank and Gladys McCray who preceded him in death. Mr. McCray came to Citrus Hills, Fl. in 2003 from Hamburg, N.Y. and later moved to Ocala, Fl. in 2007. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era, and attended Bard College, graduating in 1974 with his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Mr. McCray was a State Auditor and Superintendent with the State of New York Department of Corrections, and his professional memberships and accomplishments include being a 15 year member of the New York State Minorities in Criminal Justice where he served as President for 4 years, Active member of the American Correctional Association and served on the Executive Board of CAYSA. He was also an accepted ACA Auditor and held memberships in (N.O.B.L.E.) National Organization of Blacks in Law Enforcement, and the North Atlantic Association of Wardens and Superintendents (NAAWS) and was until his retirement in 2003 the Vice President of New York State DOC’s Superintendents Association. Upon coming to Florida to enjoy his retirement, Mr. McCray became a member of North Oak Baptist Church of Citrus Springs, Fl. where he was an Ordained Deacon, and enjoyed several of the local and national courses where he was an avid golfer.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 29 years, Brenda; 1 son, Robert McCray of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.; 3 daughters, D’Jameal Rounsoville of Lewisville, Tx. Corinne and Deseree Montanez both of Ellenville, N.Y.; 2 step-daughters, Kim McClellan of Atlanta, Ga. And Karen McClellan of Las Vegas, NV.; 2 brothers Garry McCray of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and Mike McCray of Greer, S.C.; 1 sister, Lydia McCray-Ryan of Beacon, N.Y.; 3 grandchildren, Jazmine Gonzalez, Alex and Kyla Rounsoville; 1 great-granddaughter Katerina McCray. As well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and church members.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Friday, February 22, 2013, 11:00 AM at North Oak Baptist Church, 9324 N. Elkcam Blvd. Citrus Springs with Pastor Stan Stewart officiating. The Family will receive friends at the church starting at 9:00 AM. Casket bearers will be the Church Deacons. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the North Oak Baptist Church (Youth Fund), 9324 N. Elkcam Blvd. Citrus Springs, Fl. 34433 in memory of Frank.
