
Gerald E. (Jerry) Schneider, 72 of Inverness Florida passed away peacefully the morning of August 12, 2015 at his home in Inverness. Born in northern Kentucky, he lived many years in Florida and loved the nature and climate of the state.
He was an active fisherman and often had his boat out on the lakes nearby. He served in Vietnam and took an active stance on politics and veteran’s affairs, as well as being a Life Member of VFW Post 4337. He was involved in local environmental issues and contributed articles to local environmental newsletters. He told many funny stories about his work travel as an electrician in Alaska, Montana, New Orleans and many other places in long conversations with friends and family.
He is survived by Jan Ethier, his partner of many years, his two daughters, Joy (Tom) Sheu and Tammy (Barney) Steinberg of New Port Richey, FL., 6 grandchildren, and his mother Marcella Schneider of Crescent Springs, KY. Siblings include: Rose Schneider of Washington, D.C., Theresa Eubank(Cliff) of Crescent Springs, KY, Chris Rider (Gary) of Crescent Springs, KY, Joe Schneider (Cathy) of Beavercreek , OH, Tom Schneider(Shaun) of Ft. Wright, KY, Mary Ruberg (Don) of Edgewood, KY, Philip Schneider of Crescent Springs, KY, Pat Helmer (Steve) of Ludlow, KY, and Paul(Paul) of Leesburg, VA.
Visitation at Fero Funeral Home is Aug 17, from 10:00 a.m. – noon, with service to follow. Interment, at a later date, will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
