

James was born in Boston Massachusetts to Jeanne (née Horne) and Owen McLaughlin.
James attended high school at Newburyport High School in Massachusetts. He served in the United States Air Force as a radio operator, attained the rank of sergeant, and is a veteran of the war in Vietnam. He once went water skiing in the Saigon River. After 4 years of service to our country, he received a 2-year degree from RCA Institutes in New York, and later, his Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey.
James hobbies included ham radio, radio-controlled airplanes, model cars, cycling, computers, automobiles, and technology in general. He took up watercolor painting for a while. James had a passion for anything on water, namely sailing and cruising. He was a hero at fixing things for his loved ones.
James is survived by his wife Dolores Anna, son Ian James, daughter Julie Grace, and sister Mary.
James was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Brothers Robert and Charles, and sister Gail.
A visitation for James F. McLaughlin will be held Wednesday September 18, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fero Funeral Home & Life Celebration Center, 5955 N. Lecanto Hwy., Beverly Hills, FL 34465. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday September 19, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Saint Scholastica Catholic Church located at 4301 W. Homosassa Trail, Lecanto, FL 34461, followed by a burial service at 1:00 PM at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave., Bushnell, FL 33513. Following the burial services there will be a Celebration of Life and repass at Fero Funeral Home & Life Celebration Center.
