Jose R. Mejia, 87 of Citrus Springs, Florida died on September 30, 2013. He was born in Bani, Dominican Republic on September 23, 1926. Jose was a retired chef and moved to this area in 1992 from the Bronx, New York. He was a member of the Citrus County Spanish Club.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ramona Mejia of Citrus Springs, Florida; sons, Nelson Mejia of Citrus Springs, Florida, Jose E. Mejia of Lynn, Massachusetts and Joseph Mejia of the Bronx, New York; daughters, Sandra Espaillat of Citrus Springs, Florida, Janet Llaverias of Providence, Rhode Island and Nancy Santos of Citrus Springs, Florida; brothers, Julio Mejia of Citrus Springs, Florida and Raul Mejia of the Dominican Republic; sisters, Dominica of Massachusetts, Aurea and Gladys, both of the Dominican Republic; 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
