resident of Inglis, Katherine was born in Gainesville at Shands. She survived a harrowing premature birth and 75 days in Neonatal Intensive Care to power on through life with love and kindness in her heart. At 16 she developed dilated cardiomyopathy and battled progressive heart failure for the next 20 years.
Preceded in death by her Papaw Fred, Mamaw June, Grandma Ru and cousin Kurtie, she is survived by her moms Freda Gibson and Ruth Ruppert and her large and supportive extended family on all sides. On her paternal side cousins Berni and Paula and “The Wahoo Family” Darlene and Peanut Fussell, Jeanne, Brittany and others. On her mother’s side Kat is survived by her dear Uncle Jim, Aunt T, Danielle (Brandon and Alani), James (Tricka), Chris and Uncle Kyle and Aunt Shirley. On her Ruthie’s side she is survived by all the wonderful, loving aunts and uncles Kurt (Susan), Paul (Kathleen), John (Heather), Nancy, Marie (Wayne), Carol (James), Donna (Brian), and numerous cousins and their children. While Kat had many friends she cared deeply for her “sister and heart”, Austin Norcross and family Ricky, Donie and Lilly, her confidante, Lori Castellesse, her dear friend Alex Danley and her cousins Renee, Ken and Tucker.
Katherine loved reading, movies, music and especially enjoyed volunteering with the Inglis Recreation Committee and Inglis Animal Control. We will miss her beautiful red hair, her amazing smile, sharp wit and her extraordinary capacity for caring for people and animals. She leaves behind her fur babies Luna, Mia, Lucy and Stella.
Katherine spent the last nine months at home with her moms under the loving care of her amazing medical team of Community Hospice angels, especially Lisa and Mary Elizabeth. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Inglis Animal Control, Community Hospice or the Yankeetown Inglis Women’s Club Scholarship fund in her name. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
