Margaret was born on July 28, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA to Harry M and Helen M Harrington and passed away suddenly on April 27, 2021. She is preceded in death by her eldest son Christopher B Daly and her husband John J Daly, Jr. She is survived by her devoted children Mary Beth Gill (Mike) of National Park, NJ and John A Daly (Michelle) of Citrus Springs, FL. Also left behind are her grandchildren Michael P Gill, Jr, Amanda Gill and Paige Daly, as well as her bonus-grandchildren Ashley and Travis. Margaret also leaves behind two of her remaining four siblings, Helen Gorman and Marie Lynch. Also, to be missed by many other relatives and dear friends such as Mary Mitchell and Dina Brooks.
Margaret met the love of her life John Joseph Daly, Jr and they married at St. Rose of Lima Church in Haddon Heights, NJ, where she was raised, on August 1, 1964. Shortly later they had their first child Christopher Baynes Daly who was the light of their lives. Sadly, young Christopher passed away on June 12, 1969, at the tender age of four. With daughter Mary Beth left to raise, Margaret knew there was room in the family for another child and their second son John Anthony Daly was born on June 6, 1973.
After living in New York and Illinois, John and Margaret settled in Ft Myers, FL in 1978. Becoming a widow in 1981 and having two young children to raise, Margaret embarked on a career path that took her through several industries, everything from banking, car sales and waitressing to insurance and real estate sales. However, after moving back to New Jersey in 1985, Margaret was most proud of pursuing her career in nursing where she earned an AAS Licensed Practical Nurse. She was just a few credits shy of holding a bachelor’s degree in nursing and was often motivated to continue her education even up to the point of her death. A true believer in the pursuit of bettering oneself and rising to the occasion of self-improvement is what motivated Margaret to achieve her advanced education in her fifty’s. She always said that people are never too old to learn and educate themselves to pursue a passion that they desire.
Margaret moved back to Florida where she resided in St Petersburg and several other places and then ultimately Hernando, FL, where she had lived since 2017. Margaret enjoyed her friends and the Silver Sneakers Circuit at the Citrus Memorial Health Foundation YMCA, as well as she had a great passion for walking. Cremation is under the direction of Fero Funeral Home Beverly Hills, FL and a private memorial service will be held at a later date of the family’s choosing. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret’s name to the Friends of Citrus and the Nature Coast Hospice of Citrus County Inc. 8471 W. Periwinkle Lane Suite B Homosassa Springs, FL 34446 (352) 249-1470 www.friendsofcitrus.org.
