

Mark Terence Sowell, 61, of Hernando, Florida, passed away on June 19th in Lecanto, Florida. Mark was born September 16, 1961 to James Calvin and Ruth Juanita Sowell in St. Petersburg, FL. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1979.
Mark enjoyed racing for over 25 years at Citrus and Bronson racetracks where he won many feature races. He was Bronson track champion in 1994. Mark had so many trophies he started to give them away to the children in the stands. His prize trophy was the one being voted “Fan Favorite Driver”. In 1985, Mark traveled to London, England to be a driver for the American Fall Guy Tour two wheeling cars.
Mark shot on various pool leagues around Citrus County for over 20 years and enjoyed his teams taking 1st place on several occasions. He loved to sing karaoke throughout the county where he became known as “Marky Mark”.
Mark owned and operated Mark’s Lawn and Hauling Service for over 40 years. His customers where more than just clients, they became friends. He took pride in taking care of them and enjoyed going to work every day.
Mark is survived by his longtime, loving companion, Brenda Walters. Along with an aunt, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and several cousins.
Per Mark’s wishes, no service will be held at this time. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 29th from 1:00 - 4:00 PM at the Hernando VFW, at 3190 N. Carl G. Rose Highway, Hernando, FL 34442.
