Phyllis Ann (Beller) Reddix, 87, died Tuesday, December 1st, 2020 at Citrus Hospice Lecanto, Florida with daughter Teresa at her side. Phyllis was born November 11, 1933 in South Sioux City, NE and grew up ‘across the river’ in Sioux City, Iowa where she graduated from Central High School. Phyllis led a life of service as a United States Navy military spouse and Federal Public Works employee. She resided in Pensacola Florida after retirement and later in Inverness Florida with her daughter Teresa.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband Charles ‘Jack’ Reddix (CWO4, USN, Retired), parents Aubrey and Emma (Miille) Beller, brothers Franklin and Robert Beller, sisters Beryl (Beller) Vanderlinden, Hellen Beller, and grandsons Christopher Corsair and Michael J. Reddix.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Teresa Reddix and sons Dr. Gerald Reddix and wife Valerie of Garden Valley, ID and Dr. Michael Reddix (CDR, MSC, USN, Retired) and wife Nancy of Springboro, OH, and grandchildren Rachel (Reddix) Stengel and her husband Zachary, Sarah (Reddix) Gibson and her husband Johannas, Isaac Reddix, Emily R. Reddix, Phillip, Emily P. Reddix, and Jonathan Reddix and 6 great grandchildren.
Phyllis retired from public service having worked 20+ years as a Scheduler for United States Navy Public Works departments at the Naval Shipyard, Philadelphia, PA, and the Naval Air Station, Pensacola, FL. She was proud of her service in bringing many public works processes into the ‘computer age’ of information management. Phyllis rose to the challenges faced by many military spouses by shepherding her family between Navy duty stations across the United States, from West Coast, Midwest, and East Coast. She found herself ‘in charge’ of many moves (18 cross country and local moves) while husband Jack was deployed and out to sea. She always found the time and energy to ‘square away’ her family in a new home, help the kids adjust to new schools, and establish new friends. She was exceptionally concerned for those facing similar hurdles and was always willing to lend a hand to other service families confronting the challenges of a nomadic lifestyle. That life of service was epitomized by her Navy Chapel volunteer work.
All funeral arrangements are under the compassionate direction of Fero Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, Beverly Hills, FL. A private interment ceremony will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery, Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL in the near future.
