Rafael was born on August 24, 1930 in the province of Capiz, Philippines to parents, Lorenzo Buaron and Marcella Villariez. He earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from Manila Central University, and it was here that he met his wife Remedios Buhat who was also a medical student in the same class. After immigrating to the US, Rafael practiced medicine in various NY and PA hospitals, before he settled his family in Berlin, NJ, their home for almost 30 years. Rafael dedicated the majority of his medical career by working both at Newcomb Hospital, Vineland, NJ and at their family practice in Sicklerville, NJ. Rafael and Remedios spent their retirement years in the community of Citrus Hills, Inverness, FL.
Rafael was much more than a Medical Doctor. He was the epitome of a gentle, kind man with high Christian moral values and principles. Rafael’s faith in the Lord was his biggest strength, and he imparted this faith to his family. He was an active member of Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church in Lecanto, and was truly an inspiration for us all. His passion was being an avid fisherman. Rafael enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially sharing both his catch of the day and the story that went with it.
