Romeo Santos Flora, M.D.

Romeo Santos Flora, M.D., of Hernando, FL, and Lockport, IL, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Romeo was born January 19, 1934 in Manila, Philippines, to the late Regino and Caridad (Santos) Flora. On November 27,1960, he married Julita Ponseca Tanega in Baltimore, MD.

Dr. Flora was a physician for over 45 years, most recently serving the community of Napoleon, Ohio for over 30 years (1970-2003). He served as chief of the medical staff at Heller Memorial Hospital and later Henry County Hospital. He completed his medical training at the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines. He completed his medical residency training in New York City (Internship, Ob/Gyn, and Urology) and Burlington, Canada (General Surgery). He practiced the whole spectrum of medical care. His greatest pride was having delivered over 4,000 babies in Northwest Ohio.

He is survived by his loving wife, Julita; children, Dr. Robert (Linda) Flora, of Novi, MI, Joe (Karen) Flora, of Hilliard, OH, Dr. Regino John (Kathleen) of Lockport, IL, and Kara (Jeff) Blitz of Ann Arbor, MI; grandchildren, Noah, Jenna, Alyssa, Cameron, Madeline, Zoey and Abigail.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Fero Funeral Home, 5955 N. Lecanto Highway, Beverly Hills, Florida. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 6, 2017, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 6 Roosevelt Avenue, Beverly Hills, Florida. A later memorial is planned in Napoleon, Ohio at St. Augustine Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Henry County Hospital, Napoleon, Ohio, or American Heart Association.
