Thomas Jefferson Stillwagon, 81, of Hernando, FL, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at E.W. and Lucille Cate’s Hospice House in Ocala, FL. A native of Mt. Vernon, OH, Thomas was born on Oct. 13, 1943 to Woodrow and Anna (Lucci) Stillwagon, one of three children. His wife, Linda, was truly the love of his life. They had known each other since they were four years old, growing up as neighbors before eventually falling in love—and the rest, as they say, is history. Throughout the years, she remained his greatest supporter and biggest fan. They shared everything, from their love of dogs to countless rounds of golf. Where one was, the other was never far behind.
Tom enjoyed a long career with Champion, Inc., retiring as National Sales Manager, and moved to Hernando in 2005 from Englewood, OH, where he had lived since 1978. A Roman Catholic by faith, he was a parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Beverly Hills. Tom loved playing golf for his entire life and was most recently a member of the Skyview Golf Club. Tom attended and was a member of the Augusta Military Academy, where he was inducted into their Hall of Fame. He played football at Miami University in Ohio under the great Bo Schembechler, where he earned a full scholarship, graduating with a master's degree in administration. Tom was also an avid collector of many things, including sports cards, stamps and coins. Tom’s perfect day would entail waking up and taking his dog, Abigale, for a walk through the dog park, while having humorous conversations with all that would listen. He was a tremendous storyteller and had a great sense of humor. His perfect day would also include a game of golf with his four boys, who were his pride and joy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Woody and Jim Stillwagon, and his uncle Dick Stillwagon. Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Stillwagon; children Jeff Stillwagon (Becki Phelps), Mount Pleasant, SC; Brad Stillwagon, Louisville, KY; Vince Stillwagon, New Buffalo, MI and Todd Stillwagon (wife LaRhonda), Charleston, SC; grandchildren Kelly Berning (husband Zach), Troy, OH; Jake Stillwagon (wife Emily), Lewis Center, OH; Max, Quinn and Riley Stillwagon, all of Louisville, KY; Emma and Maddie Stillwagon, both of Pittsburgh, PA; great grandson Carter Thomas Stillwagon, Lewis Center, OH and sisters-in-laws Effie Stillwagon, Worthington, OH and Sally Stillwagon, Greenville, SC.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Stillwagon will be celebrated on August 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St Benedict Catholic Church, 950 Darrell Creek Trail, Mount Pleasant, SC 29466
