Ada Mae (Outlaw) Tant, of Mountain Brook, Alabama, passed away on October 21, 2024, in Suwanee, Georgia at age 96. Born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 26, 1927, to Ada (Cooper) Outlaw and John Outlaw, Ada Mae will be remembered for her warmth, generosity and strength by her family and friends.
Ada Mae was a retired employee of South Central Bell, where she began her career in 1946 and worked until 1985. In her free time, she was an avid gardener and community volunteer. She was an alumna and an enthusiastic supporter of the University of Alabama and the Crimson Tide.
Ada Mae was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melvin Tant. She is survived by her children, Traci Tant and Tara (John) Bennett; grandchildren Dylan Bennett and Abby Bennett; sister, Doris Brown, and her nieces and nephews, Valerie (Dan) Mayberry; Linda (Mike) Nixon, Ken (Terry) Kirchler, and Susan (Danny) Newbill, as well as her great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at Elmwood Chapel on Sunday, October 27 from 1 – 2 pm, immediately followed by graveside services at Elmwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
