Avis Elrod

Avis Stancil Elrod passed away August 8, 2025 at the age of 94. Family meant everything to Avis. She put love into every meal she cooked, every quilt and afghan she made and every piece of clothing she created (especially stunt night, choir, and dance costumes). She provided loving support, a listening ear, and words of encouragement when they were needed. Avis was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.

Avis was predeceased by her parents, George & Bertie Stancil; her siblings, Mildred, Belton, Pauline, Ruth; and her son, Tony Elrod.

Avis is survived by her children: Teresa Braden (Billy); Paula Mays (Donald); Jennifer Tamburello (John); daughter-in-law, Marilyn Elrod.

Her grandchildren: Michelle McRae (Kyle); Chad Braden; Josh Braden; Amy Braden; Mark Elrod; Amanda Elrod; Alex Whilding (Kasey); Devin Kimbrel (Kevin); Adam Tamburello (Maija); Veronica Tamburello.

Great grandchildren: Braden McRae (Anna); Conner McRae; Cadence Tyler; Mike Elrod (Katie); Cody Elrod; Rebecca McBurnett (Tommy Griffiths); Ronnette Elrod (Mike Moutray); Dustin Elrod (Chelsea); Olivia Whilding; Parker Kimbrel; Isabella Tamburello; Emma Avis Tamburello; Venla Tamburello; Serafina Tamburello.

Great-great grandchildren: Parker Jackson; Sage Troncale; Holly Elrod; Hunter Griffiths; Alan Griffiths; Chloe Johnston; Briggs McBurnett; Joshua Elrod; Brady Elrod; Landon Elrod; Tristyn Ingram; Karter Elrod; Anthony Elrod.

A funeral service for Avis will be held at Ridout's Trussville Chapel on Wednesday, August 13th at 11:00 a.m. with visitation for family and friends held one hour prior. Burial will immediately follow at Rock Springs Cemetery in Blountsville, AL.
