HODGES, BETTY JEAN HECK, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Friday, July 25, 2014. She was born December 1, 1927 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was a loving devoted mother, grandmother and dear friend to many. She graduated from Jones Valley High School in 1946. She retired from South Central Bell after 39 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents Myrtle and Clearance Heck and beloved husband Morris Hodges. She is survived by her loving children Wayne Hodges, Cheryl (Abbott) Williams, Cynthia Hodges, Birmingham, AL, Denise (Lee) Jordan, Huntsville, AL, and Cathy (Daniel) Turberville, Tybee Island, GA; grandchildren Nathan Jordan, Jessica Turberville, Mary Marsh, Pala Alto, CA, Margaret Anthony (Lee), Atlanta, GA and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Elmwood Funeral Home Wednesday, July 30, 2014, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. with funeral services at 2 p.m. and burial following. Rev. Hale Bishop and Rev. Patrick Friday officiating. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Paul Roller and team of exceptional doctors he brought in for our mother’s care. Our world is forever changed.
