Billie Salser, 96, of Birmingham, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026. Billie lived a life rooted in love, kindness, and quiet generosity. She was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a cherished grandmother whose presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.
Born in 1929, Billie was the youngest of four girls and grew up in the community of Ensley. She graduated from Ensley High School and went on to complete a business course, beginning her career as a bank teller at Birmingham Trust National Bank. She took pride in her work, but soon transitioned to roles of wife, mother and homemaker with the advent of marriage and family.
Billie met the love of her life, Bill Salser, passing by on a neighborhood street—an ordinary moment that blossomed into a lifelong love story. They began dating, quickly fell in love, and were married in 1950. Together, they built a life centered on their love for God and their love for each other, raising two children and creating a home filled with warmth, faith, and devotion. They were long-time members of Shades Mountain Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Billy Earl Salser, her father, William Pete McDaniel, her mother, Claudia Mae McDaniel and her sisters, Margaret Mae Ketchum, Mary Elizabeth Titus and Dorothy Lee Sosebee. She is survived by her daughter, Julie S. Davis (Art); her son, B. Earl Salser, Jr.; her grandson, Ben C. Davis (Julie); her granddaughter, Lauren D. Bumpous (Kyle); and her great grandchildren, Coleman Bumpous, Cason Bumpous, Colette Davis, and Paul Davis.
