Bobby Jack Ray, age 70, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones in Birmingham, AL on February 7, 2024. Born in Granbury, TX in 1954, he eventually relocated to Alabama in the early 1970’s where he met and married the love of his life, Sheryl Denise Hughins. He worked approximately 15 years in pest control and 10 years in the silkscreen printing industry before retiring in 2011.
Bobby was extremely passionate about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a member of Life Church in Birmingham for 23 years and loved to serve the church in any capacity he could. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and loved his family second only to The Lord. He is survived by his wife, Sheryl, his son, Shane Ray and his wife Holly Ray, his son Matthew Ray and his wife, Dawn Ray, his daughter Sissy Snow and her husband, Greg Snow, and his daughter Crystal Krause and her husband Zack Krause and 10 grandchildren, Drey Marlow, Levi “Austin” Ray, Alexa Snow, Jackson Krause, Hannah Ray, Talon Snow, Delaney Krause, Elliott “Eli” Ray, Maci Ray, and Wyatt Ray and one brother, Lynn Ray. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Harold and Ruth Ray, his sisters, Ann Woods and Sue West, his brother, Marvin Ray, and his sister, Rita Risher.
Bobby’s legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with. The viewing will be held at Life Church in Birmingham on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00, followed by a celebration of life service from 11:00 to 12:00, followed by short service at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, AL, where his body will be laid to rest.
