Bob grew up in Ketona (Springdale), Alabama., one of four children. He attended Springdale Grammar School and Tarrant High School, where he excelled at basketball. He began dating Edwina when they were both in the eleventh grade. Their first date was the Junior-Senior Prom. They dated steadily after that. They graduated in May 1955 and married the following March 1956. Bob was happiest when he could help older people. He took care of Edwina's aging grandfather, stopping by every day after work to bathe and shave him and anything else needed. He had such a kind heart. Bob, later on, bought a ski boat and taught all the kids to ski. He would pull those skiers endlessly every weekend at Highland Lake. After retirement, They eventually moved to Highland Lake, where they lived until the present time. We will miss Daddy Bob, as so many friends and family called him.
Bobby was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Wheeler; parents, Joe and Vida Wheeler; and brothers, Tommy and Jerry Wheeler.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edwina Wheeler; sister, Cheri Wheeler Toward (John); grandson, Case Gualtieri; and a host of relatives and friends.
