

He was born June 26, 1947 to Barney and Mary Jo Hughins. He was raised in Woodlawn and was the only brother to five sisters Wayne was a man who wore many hats and had a tool for every job. He was always happy to help with any projects and willing to impart his knowledge on the way. He was a master craftsman. He built and remodeled many homes.
Also remodeling the windows at Southside Baptist Church, which was no easy undertaking. And he created a way for the Mountain Brook Police Station to have a sealed radio communication room. These are just a few examples of man who worked with his hands while using his keen mind at the same time. This is where he met his wife, Elizabeth.
He also was leader in the screen-printing trade. Winning many awards and serving as a judge for international competitions for Screen Printing Association International. When someone told him that others said it couldn’t be done, Wayne found a way.
He was a proud US Marine. He’d support veterans in anyway possible. He was also a proud member of the local Masonic community. His last home lodge being Birmala #836 in Clay, AL. He supported both US soldiers in times of need; and his Lodge with hands on knowledge and with materials contributed from his workshop.
He was predeceased by his parents Barney and Mary Jo and beloved sister, Sandra King.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 47 years, Elizabeth. He is also survived by sons, Wayne Hughins Jr. and Bo Hughins; daughter, Beth Lundberg (Daniel); grandchildren, John Christopher Hughins, Ermis Lundberg and Ardis Lundberg; great grandsons, Austin and Tyler Hughins. He is also survived by sisters, Maryanne Jones, Sheryl Ray, Bonnie Morgan and Sheila Hughins
Family graveside service will be July 3, 2025 at Forest Hills Cemetery with Denay Kirkpatrick officiating. Memorials can be made to Cahaba Springs Presbyterian Church 6110 Deerfoot Parkway, Trussville, Al. 36173
