Bonnie Bae Bruce

Bonnie Bae Townsend Bruce, 84, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama passed away February 13, 2018. Bonnie was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 27, 1933. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. Bruce, her father James Otto Townsend, Sr., mother Eula Bae Barfoot Townsend, two brothers, James & Harold Townsend, and a sister, Colleen Townsend Jones. She is survived by daughter Gwyneth Hill (Hamilton), Jack W. Bruce Jr. (Julie), and Ronald K. Bruce (Christie), 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bruce was a homemaker and former employee of City Federal. She was a longtime member of the Westside Alliance Church, where she was actively involved in youth and music ministries. She also served as president of the Women’s Missionary Prayer Fellowship of the Southern District of the Christian & Missionary Alliance. Most recently, she was a part of the church family at First Baptist Church of Hoover.

Visitation will be at Johns-Rideout’s Elmwood Chapel Friday, February 16 at 9:30 AM with a memorial service in the Chapel at 10:30 AM. Graveside services will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Randy G. Atkinson of First Baptist Church of Hoover and Tony Cooper of Jimmie Hale Mission.
