Carie was born in Walker County, Alabama on May 20, 1929 to the late Strother and Ada Elizabeth Sellers Gravlee. Carie retired from Alabama Power after 37 years.
She was an accomplished pianist and organist and served in that church position for many years. She had a deep love of music. Carie was an avid Alabama football fan. She flew her Alabama Roll Tide flag deep in enemy territory.
Carie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Gene Tidwell, parents, Strother and Ada Elizabeth Sellers Gravlee; brothers, George Clarence Gravlee, Walton Gravlee, Gray Gravlee and Gaines P. Gravlee; sisters, Mabel Miller, Elizabeth Moss, Myra Grady and Leila Gaines.
Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Barbara T. Kirksey and her husband, Joseph Wayne; grandson, Christopher Wayne Kirksey and his wife, Jennifer; great grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Kirksey and Thomas Jackson Kirksey; sister-in-law, Ann Gravlee; nieces, Marie Miller Pannell and Beth(Russ) Eiland; nephews, Larry Gravlee, Gene (Linda) Gravlee, David (Shelia) Gravlee, John (Debbie) Gravlee, Don (Tammy) Gravlee, George (Diane) Gravlee, John (Charlotte) Gravlee,Glendon (Deborah) Gravlee,Ronnie (Veronica) Gravlee, John H (Patty) Miller, Daniel (Monica) Miller, Joe (Regina) Miller and Gaines (Susan) Gravlee Jr.
Family will receive friends Monday Feb. 6, 2023 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel from 1:00 -2:00 PM. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
