An Auburn alumni, he was drafted out of grad school and sent to serve in Vietnam. Upon return, he completed a graduate degree at UAB and spent 37 years working for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama before retiring in North Shelby County, and then Weaver, Alabama. He was a charter member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Carl is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth, two loving children Christopher Caudle and Cheryl Hendrickson, and three adoring grandchildren, Emmett, Avery, and Libby Hendrickson who knew him as “Pop pop”, as well as Cheryl’s fiancé Brian Martin and his daughter Brynn. He also leaves behind a brother, Craig Caudle and his daughter Jennifer Cooper.
Additionally he will be missed by all the friends whose lives he touched, and who came to know him as Mr. Carl.
He will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery on what would have been his 80th birthday- April 14th.
