

Carol Turner passed away on March 9, 2014. She is survived by her mother, Evelyn Turner; aunt , Louise Bailey; and dog, Gidget. She is a graduate of Jones Valley High School. She earned a B.A. in education and a master’s degree in counseling from UAB. While at UAB she was a member of O.D.K.; active in the student government; an instrumental part in starting UAB ambassadors; and a founding member of Gamma Omega chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta.
Carol is a retired guidance counselor form the Birmingham City Schools where she taught for 32 years. She was a two time president of the Alabama School Counseling Association. She received counselor of the year form ASCA. She also served as president of the Alabama Counseling Association, and served on the board of American Counseling Association.
She currently was serving on Midfield’s Board of Education ; A.S.C.A in charge of adds and exhibits for their yearly conference; Bryant/Jordan scholarship selection committee; and Alpha Gamma Delta,Gamma Omega chapter as an advisor.
Carol was a past member of Midfield Baptist Church and presently a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove. She was a fun, cheerful person , who loved the Lord, never meet a stranger, loved counseling, enjoyed Alpha Gamma Delta ,and was a devote Auburn football fan.
Visitation is Tuesday 5:00-7:30pm at Elmwood Chapel. The funeral is Wednesday at 1:00 at Elmwood with the burial at Eastaboga Baptist Church.
