
Christine Faulkner Bauer, 102, Hoover, AL, entered into the full presence of her Lord and Savior September 6, 2014. She was the widow of John W. Bauer, Sr. to whom she was married in 1943 for over 55 years. Mrs. Bauer was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Sanders Echols.
She graduated from Ensley High School in 1929, attended Livingston State Teachers College, and graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama. Mrs. Bauer spent most of her career in the Fairfield City School System as a second grade teacher.
Mrs. Bauer was a long-time, faithful member of Fairfield Presbyterian Church and joined Oakmont Presbyterian Church in Hoover, AL after Fairfield Presbyterian was disbanded. She was especially proud of her Scottish ancestry.
She is survived by her son, John W. Bauer, Jr. (Patti Vines Bauer); her daughter, Margaret B. Richardson (Hugh Wayne Richardson); one granddaughter, Emily B. McCaffety (Brandon), one great-granddaughter, Jenna C. McCaffety; and several beloved cousins. She is also survived by Margaret and Wayne’s daughters, Julia R. Shirley (Barry) and their children, Huston, Rachel, Kathleen; and Beth R. Patrick (Frank) and their children Yeadon, Amelia, Colin, and Emma.
Graveside funeral service will be Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Elmwood Cemetery at 10:00 a.m., with a visitation for friends at 9:15 at John Ridout’s Mortuary, Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Avenue, SW, Birmingham, AL.
