

She was affectionately known as Clara, Rashida, Mother, Sitty, Big Sitty and Aunt Clara. She embraced life to the fullest, cherishing her family, home and friends. She loved cooking and having everyone to her house where you always felt welcomed and at home when there for any occasion.
In addition to family, one of her greatest loves was football, especially Alabama Football. She looked forward to every Saturday during football season and was a passionate supported of the Crimson Tide. She cheered them to victory from her couch and could always be seen wearing her Alabama T shirts proudly. Her house was adorned with Alabama statues, blankets, pillows and Alabama Christmas decorations.
She was born June 26th, 1932 to Lebanese Immigrants George Zarzour and Martha Boackle Zarzour. She had 2 Sisters, Olga Resha (Joe) and Clem Mizerany (Charlie). She had four Brothers, Emmett (Patsy), George, Zeke (Catherine) and Solomon (Donna), all who have preceded her in death and whom she loved dearly.
Also, to greet her in heaven was her Mother in Law, Olys B Varden. Grandchildren, Michelle Moore, Christopher Moore and Great Granddaughter Desaree Boone. And oh, what a reunion it must have been when she was reunited with her two best friends, Mary Ann Cofield and Nezha Gurganus and many other family and friends.
On October 17. 1955 she married Kenneth E. Smith Sr. They were married 64 years when he passed on August 15,2019. She was a wonderful Mother and is survived by three children: Cindy Moore, Lisa Ayers (Neal) and Kenneth Smith Jr.
She was most proud of her role as Sitty and Big Sitty. She had seven Grandchildren who survive her: Chance Sentelle (Stephanie) Garden Grove, CA, Ethan Sentelle (Erynne) Cullman AL, Elizabeth Smith, Saucier MS, Melanie Smith, Vincent, AL, and Kenneth E Smith III (Amber) Childersburg, AL. She is also survived by twenty-three Great and two Great Great Grandchildren.
She is survived by her two Godsons that she cherished, Joey Resha (Gina) Hendersonville, TN and Bill Cofield (Kim) Birmingham, AL.
She loved her many Nieces and Nephews and very special to her heart were Sylvia Resha Antioch, TN, Martha Boackle (Bob) Mt. Pleasant, SC and Donna Bahakel, Birmingham, AL.
Clara worked along side of her Brother Solomon Zarzour for 40 years at Sol’s Hotdogs in North Birmingham. She made millions of breakfast sandwiches and hot dogs along with many friends and loyal customers.
She was devout Catholic and loved praying the Rosary even in her last few weeks here on earth. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and dedication. She will be terribly missed.
There will be a Visitation Monday, March 24, 2025 at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM and a Funeral Service Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
May Clara rest in eternal peace and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
