Clifford Charles Strong was born October 15, 1954 to Pettus Strong, Sr., and Dr. Ruth Mitchell Strong in Birmingham, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dr. Ruth Strong Tucker, brother-in-law Jerome Tucker, and cousin, Reynard McMillian, Jr.
Clifford received his early education at Holy Family Elementary School, Carrie A. Tuggle and Wilkerson Elementary Schools. He graduated from A.H. Parker High School and from Tuskegee (Institute) University with a degree in Accounting. He used his education in service as an auditor for AMSouth Bank and Director of Fiscal Services for the State of Tennessee and a pro bono tax service to many friends over the years.
Clifford joined and grew up in the church at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church in Birmingham where he learned the foundational truths of Christianity. Clifford became a lover of the Word of God and gave himself completely to Christ in service as an adult in 1989 as a member of Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, vice chairman of the Board of Deacons and passionately as Director of Youth Ministries.
Clifford met and married Cynthia Hudson February 12, 1983. They worked tirelessly as a team in ministry together in Tennessee for decades and relocated to Birmingham in March of 2016. Together they enjoyed traveling to family reunions in various locations around the nation, taking trips and singing gospel songs together on the road, playing sports together as they lived a life rich in relationships with family and great friends.
He leaves to celebrate his life, his faithful, devoted and loving wife Cynthia, brother Pettus Strong, Jr. (Carmenlita), sisters-in-law; Janet Harvey, Barbara Hudson, and Vernita McMillian, brothers-in-law; Larry Hudson (Patricia), Jerry Hudson (Kelly), James Bernard Hudson, 6 nephews, 8 nieces, 8 grand nephews, 9 grand nieces.
