Cloris Jones, 91, passed to Glory, on November 18, 2024, surrounded by the Love of Family, in Comfort and Peace. Cloris had celebrated 43 years of marriage, with her husband, Catesby ap Catesby Jones, of Selma, Alabama.
Cloris was born December 17, 1933, in Dora, Alabama, to parents, Tommie Joe and Pearl Wolfe. Cloris childhood was shared, with two Sisters and three Brothers. The Wolfe Family endured the struggles and hardships, of the Great Depression and World War II. Their lives were filled, with hard work, responsibility, uncertainty, tears and fears, due to the economic deprivation. Yet, Mama and Papa Wolfe led the family with an enviable strong will, determination, character, ambition and Faith that led to survival and success.
Cloris was born into the “Silent Generation”. Cloris mirrored the well known characteristics, of the “Silents”, Traditionalism, thrifty, respectful, loyal, demanding and independent. “They did this by keeping their heads down, and working hard”. No doubt, Cloris' admirable passion, and “gift”, for gardening was inspired, by her desire for security and need to add beauty to the world around her.
It is said, “One is nearer God’s Heart, in a Garden, than anywhere else, on Earth.” Cloris created the beauty that was often denied her in the struggles of Life.
Cloris was preceded in Death by her beloved Son, Russell Wyatt Morris, Parents Tommie Joe and Pearl M. Wolfe, Sister Juanita Kulp (Frank), Brother Tommie Joe Wolfe, Jr. (Joy Ann)
Cloris is survived by her Husband, Catesby ap Catsby Jones, Son James Gregory Morris (Pam), Daughter Lisa Browder, Son Barry G. Morris (Tammy), Sister Shirley McKee (Joe), Brothers Lamar and Donald Wolfe.
Five Grandchildren: Kelly Reaves (Jenn), Kari Brasfield (Brian), Courtney Weiss (Brian), Jeremy Hitt, Kate Ray (Taylor). Ten Great Grandchildren: Cooper, Gracie, Zane, Walker, Hudson, Clay (Kayla), Cade, Gisele, Olive, Finn. And, a Host, of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends. Cloris attended Dora Elementary and Dora High School. She and her husband were faithful members of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, in Selma, Alabama. Pastor Mike Stevens, Union Hill Baptist Church is officiating.
A visitation for Cloris will be held Monday, November 25, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Ave Sw, Birmingham, AL 352113812. A celebration of life will occur Monday, November 25, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 800 Dennison Ave Sw, Birmingham, AL 352113812. A committal service will occur Monday, November 25, 2024 from 3:15 PM to 3:30 PM, 800 Dennison Ave Sw, Birmingham, AL 352113812.
