
MISSILDINE, JR., DENNIS HOLMES "YACKY" Age 84 of Billingsly, AL, died Sunday, July 31, 2011 in Birmingham, AL. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Dixie Missildine, his siblings, Tobe Missildine, Louise Missildine Howard, Sarah Missildine Taylor, Davis Missildine, LeNoir Missildine Foshee, Miles Missildine, Alma Missildine Maxwell, Irvin Missildine, Willodean Missildine Wise, and Betty Jo Missildine Lisenby, and his wife Bobbie Cook Missildine. He is survived by his brother, Robert Missildine of Alabaster, AL, step-son, Norman Cook of Pleasant Grove, AL and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was especially close to his friends and caregivers at the assisted living facility he lived for the last six years. Dennis was born February 3, 1927 on the family homestead in Billingsly, AL and loved to tell stories about growing up with his brothers and sisters on the farm. After high school, he went to college at the University of Alabama, The Birmingham School of Accounting and is a graduate of the Birmingham School of Law. Dennis worked as an accountant for a wide variety of businesses in the Birmingham and Montgomery areas as a trusted and loyal employee. Dennis was known to his family and friends as a "true-Southern gentlemen". He will be remembered as the kindest, most gentle man that we have known. Dennis went to many churches during his life but was married at and is a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Birmingham. Dennis trusted in God and is now in heaven with Him. Visitation will be at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel Wednesday, August 3, 2011 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., followed by a memorial service at the Mausoleum Chapel at Elmwood Cemetery at 1p.m. Memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 5712 1st Avenue North, Birmingham, AL.
