

McNaron, Doris Roebuck Rule, was born on June 7, 1921, and died on Sunday, January 8, 2012. The daughter of Anne Minette Roebuck Rule Crosby, Doris was a lifelong resident of Roebuck, those family was the original Roebuck family that established that area in 1846. Mrs. McNaron worked as a librarian and singer before and following her marriage to Lt. Col. Larry R. McNaron, whom she survived by thirty years. Active in several charities, she was especially devoted to the “Forgotten Men” prison ministries and worked tirelessly with parole officials and half-way houses for release and placement of inmates. She was a member of Huffman United Methodist Church, of which her family members were founders, and at which she was soprano soloist for twenty years. An informed antiques collector and talented amateur visual artist, she was also a skilled pianist. Mrs. McNaron is survived by her children, Dr. David L. McNaron of Boca Raton, FL and Soprano Diane Roebuck McNaron of Birmingham. Funeral Services will be 12 noon, Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Huffman United Methodist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Church parlor at 11:00.
