

15, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of the late Mark and Corean Pettway. Elizabeth was
united in holy matrimony with Eugene Hatcher, with whom she shared 65 wonderful years of
marriage.
She was a devoted homemaker, she was also deeply committed to her faith, serving for many years
as a deaconess, a Sunday school teacher, and choir member at Galilee Baptist Church. She touched
countless lives with her wisdom, kindness, and unwavering devotion. Her voice uplifted the
congregation, and her guidance shaped the faith journeys of many young people. She will be
remembered for her steadfast love for her family and her church.
Her dedication to her church and community touched the lives of many with her love for the Lord
and always helping anyone that was in need.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene Hatcher, her brothers Ed Pettway,
Mark Pettway, and Frank Pettway and sisters Maggie Hall, Pauline Holley, Josephine Culp, Martha
Womack, Corean Coleman, and granddaughter Sheneida Walk. Elizabeth leaves behind to cherish
her loving memories; her children, Dilsia Coats (Willie), Eugene Hatcher, Jr., (Marie), Corean
Walk, James Hatcher (Marilyn), and Lee Hatcher. Grandchildren Alesia Walk Scales (Garry),
Michael Hatcher, Stephen Coats (Sonya), Latonya McGuire, Quentin Hatcher, Tiffany Walk,
Carolyn Coats (Joseph), LaShawn Hatcher (Toya), Temeka Hatcher, James Hatcher, Jr., and Jana
Hatcher. And several great and great-great grandchildren that will truly miss her beautiful spirit.

A funeral service for Elizabeth will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Ave Sw, Birmingham, AL 352113812.
