

Elton Gene Crumpton, age 93, of Pell City, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025. Gene joined the Air Force at age 18 and served his country during the Korean War. He worked in finance throughout his career until retirement. Known for his great sense of humor, Gene loved making others laugh and spent many happy years enjoying life at Highland Lake. In his later years, he resided at the VA Nursing Home, where he formed meaningful friendships and cherished visits with his family.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Alton R. and Margaret Ferguson Crumpton, and his brother, L. Ray Crumpton. Gene is survived by his children, Gary Crumpton (Cheri), Mike Crumpton (Kay), Melissa Bryant (Marty), and Keith Crumpton (Belinda); grandchildren, Michael Crumpton (Jennifer), Katie Taff (Davy), Matthew Crumpton, Taylor Bryant (Elizabeth), Jordan Bryant (Rayme), Brooke Crumpton, and Kyle Crumpton; and great-grandchildren, including Karlie Niel, Drew Niel, Finley Bryant, Davis Bryant, Maddox Crumpton, Laura Hollis Crumpton, and Anneliese Crumpton, as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
The family will be receiving visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m., with a service to celebrate Gene’s life starting at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2025, at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. A private family graveside service will be held at Alabama National Cemetery on a later date.
