

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Ray Bowlin of 55 years; parents, Bill and Sophia Wilhelmena “Minnie” Weber; brothers, Carl “Buddy” Weber (Geraldine), William “Billy” Weber (Annette), Robert Weber (Hazel), and Charles “Charlie” Weber (Annette); son-in-law, Frank Scheinert; and her beloved dog, Elroy.
She was a beloved mother to Gloria Jean Schaefer (Al), Patricia “Tissie” Scheinert, Terry Kyle (Glenn), and Tommie Sartain (Jeff). Her family included many grandchildren: Darlene Garrison (Todd), Todd Schaefer (Rhonda), Heather Wilson (Kerry), Mark Schaefer (Claire), Michelle Foster, Jacob Sartain (Matrika), Rachel Wingard (Robert), great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as special family friend, Tom Garvich.
Jean was a lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Church until its closure, later joining First Methodist Church Trussville. She loved Jesus and expressed her faith by playing hymns on the piano at home and church, practicing daily well into her 90s. Jean was known for her hospitality, bringing family together for meals and fellowship, always greeting guests with a warm smile and homemade cookies. She extended her kindness to the local community by taking cookies weekly to the Trussville Community Center.
In her spare time, Jean enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and gardening. She won numerous ladies' golf tournaments in the Birmingham area. Jean and Oscar were members of the Grayson Valley Country Club until Oscar's passing in 2002, when she retired from golf. She found joy in fishing whenever she had the chance, and she loved gardening in her many flower beds.
Emma Jean Bowlin will be deeply missed by her family, who look forward to reuniting with her in Heaven.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 10 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Ridout’s Trussville, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Jean will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery.
