

Frances Walker Williamson went home to be with the Lord January 11, 2017. She was born on Feb 23, 1927, the only child of Hoyt Dewey and Emma Leeman Walker. She graduated from Robinson Grammar School then Woodlawn High School in 1944. She was editor of Tatler, member of National Honor Society, played cello in orchestra, and was in several plays. She graduated from Howard College (now Samford ) in 1947. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, Who's Who in American University and Colleges, president of Hypatia, president Kappa Delta Pi, editor of Crimson. She earned her Master's from UAB and taught math at Woodlawn High School from 1967-1969. Then taught 15 years at Briarwood Christian School from 1971-1986, where she was affectionately known as "Ms. Willie." She was a life time member of Samford University Axillary. She was a member of South Roebuck Baptist Church for 59 years , where she served in the nursery and played in the church ensemble. Frances' life centered on her love for the Lord. She had many interests; gardening, sewing, knitting, animals and doing for others. She was an avid Bama fan. She was preceded in death by her precious husband of 62 years of marriage, Hugh Williamson Jr.; her parents; and cousin, Virginia Murphree who was like a sister. She is survived by her son, David Hoyt Williamson (Donna) , Becky Williamson Miller (Kevin), and Amy Williamson King (Stephen); grandchildren, Jonathan Williamson, Lt. Justin Miller MD (Natalie) , Rachael Williamson Taylor MD (Kevin), Ryan Miller, Matthew King, Jared Miller, Lyessa Miller, Stewart King; and 2 great grandchildren and brother-in-law Donald Williamson (Frances). The Family will receive friends Monday January 16, 2017 from 11:00 – 12:00 P.M. at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. Funeral service will follow at noon. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to Indian Springs First Baptist Church 3375 Cahaba Valley Road Indian Springs, Alabama 35124.
