

George Thomas “Tommy” Lane, Jr., (May 25, 1940–April 18, 2023). George Thomas Lane, Jr., died April 18, 2023, at the age of 82. He was born May 25, 1940, in Birmingham, Ala., at South Highlands Infirmary (UAB Hospital-Highlands).
A native of Mountain Brook, Ala., he is predeceased by his parents George T. Lane, Sr., and Fannie Bell Sharp Lane along with his sister Mary Lane Jackson. He is survived by his children of Mountain Brook, Kathryn Lane Burns (Steven) and George T. Lane III (Jessica) and grandchildren, ENS.Wiley McMillian Burns, Kathryn Lamar Burns, Alice Brooks Lane, and George Thomas Lane IV.
Tommy graduated from Indian Springs School and The University of Alabama and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He served his country as 1st Lt. with the 117th Alabama Air National Guard Combat Support Squadron from 1965 to 1972, and thereafter founded his generator business Lane Energy, Inc.
He was a member of the Cathedral Church of the Advent and the Country Club of Birmingham.
The family will receive friends and loved ones Monday, April 24, 2023, from 11:00am—12:00pm in Clingman Commons of the Cathedral Church of the Advent. Tommy will later be interred at Elmwood Cemetery.
