

Mrs. Grace Riggins-Coker passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2011. She was born on November 16, 1907 to Verna and George House. She was born in Holly Pond and lived most of her life in Birmingham, Alabama. She was active in the Palisades Church of Christ. She was married to the late Harlem E. Riggins from 1930 until the time of his death in 1953. Together they owned and operated Sanitary Rug cleaners, which remains a third generation family-owned and operated business. Mrs. Riggins-Coker retired from the family business in 1966. After the death of Mr. Riggins, Grace married the late Leonard Coker in 1963 and remained married until his death 1979. Survivors one son, Ronald E. Riggins and wife Kathryn of Trussville; one granddaughter, Kimberly Rogers of Scottsboro, AL; grandsons, Ronald Riggins, Jr., Steven Riggins , and Michael Riggins all of Birmingham, AL. Also Surviving are one step-granddaughter; two step grandsons; four great granddaughters, and four great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Riggins-Coker was preceded in death by her son, Thomas M. Riggins. Mrs. Riggins-Coker was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. The family would like to thank St. Martin’s in the Pines and Life Care Hospice for their loving care of Mrs. Riggins-Coker. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a memorial be made to Palisade Church of Christ in Birmingham, Alabama.
