Herbert Rickett Jones

Herbert Rickett Jones 92 died on November 18, 2015. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He graduated from Auburn University in 1954. He was a Machinist for many years and later taught machine shop at Bessemer State Technical College until he retired in 1985. He was married to Yvonne Burgess Jones on July 3, 1952 at Pike Avenue Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Yvonne Burgess Jones; father James Henry Jones and mother Matilda Alice Rickett Jones. He is survived by his daughters Linda J. Cotton (Danny) of Lincoln, AL, Terri J. Heaton (Ron) of Denison, TX; son Glenn Jones (Jamie) of Overton, TX; grandchildren Martha C Bogdanowicz (Mark) of Peoria, IL, Joseph Cotton (Jennifer Parsons) of Denver, CO, Mary C. Nunnelly (Brian) of Ohatchee, AL, David Heaton of Columbiana, AL, Mark Heaton (Betty) of Russellville, AL, Heath Heaton (Rachel) of Demopolis, AL, Seth Heaton of Denison, TX, Matt Heaton of Columbus, TX, Wesley Heaton (Kimberly) of Marengo County, AL, Rofe Jones of Overton, TX and Ruby Jones of Overton, TX and thirteen great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his friends and family. Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 23, 2015 at Hunter Street Baptist Church with services following at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Buddy Gray Officiating. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Gardens.
