Early childhood memories of being raised in the Tennessee Mountains were her favorite subject when telling stories to anyone that would listen! From these humble beginnings she traveled the world with family. A wonderful day to her was peeling/eating a red apple with a sharp knife, enjoying a great dessert, having a snack of cornbread in milk, and watching either preaching or Fox News on television. Irene was known for her wonderful coleslaw, pimento cheese, as well as her chicken and dumplings. Some of her favorite activities included singing while spinning her inner tube at the river, swimming, and participating on a bowling league.
Irene lived her Christian life daily and always saw the good in everything. Irene and her husband were charter members of Brookwood Baptist Church in Mountain Brook, Alabama.
Pallbearers are her grandchildren and special family friend Windell Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Anita Stephens, Martha Malone, Charles Pierce Jr., Steven Edmondson, and Ethan Blickenstaff.
