

Jack Wilkins Perry age 87 of Vestavia Hills, AL passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013. He graduated from West End High School in 1943. He attended Birmingham Southern College, UAB, and graduated from Florence State Teacher’s College. He went to work for Liberty National Life Insurance Company in 1950. He worked for 35 years and retired as the vice president of insurance operations. Following retirement, he enjoyed fishing, painting, and spending time with his grandson. He was a member of Shades Mountain Church of Christ and served as a deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Walter Perry and Floy Montgomery Perry; and sister, Billie Jo Perry Sanders. Left to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Doris Smith Perry; daughter, Lynn Perry Sharp (Greg); grandson, Brian Gregory Sharp; nieces, Doris Elizabeth Perry and Judith Leigh Perry Shipp. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 6, 2013 beginning at 10:00 am at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel with a chapel service beginning at 11:00 am with Mel Futrell officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Allec Robert Shipp III, Allec Robert Shipp IV, Gary Lee Smith, Jeffrey Wayne Smith, William Floyd Quillen, and James Gary Quillen will be acting as pallbearers for Mr. Perry. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Barry Rayburn for his many years as a friend and a physician. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Shades Mountain Church of Christ.
